Abstract

The present article undertakes an analytical inquiry into the origins of the enduring scholarly perception of Fyodor Sologub’s artistic world as constrained or limited in scope. In this regard, particular attention is given to the structural and thematic features of Sologub’s poetics, with an emphasis on the intrinsic interconnectedness and mutual conditioning of the central themes and motifs within his oeuvre. Although the last few decades have witnessed a growing academic interest in Sologub’s literary legacy, this specific aspect of his poetics remains insufficiently conceptualized and systematized. The study foregrounds the internal conceptual unity of Sologub’s poetic universe as a key interpretative category. This unity determines the semantic reception of individual texts, which are perceived as integrated into a broader network of internally correlated contexts, activating a multiplicity of associative resonances. Such intertextual and thematic cohesion ultimately gives rise to a closed system of aesthetically coherent and organically interlinked images and motifs, thereby challenging the notion of limitation and revealing a complex, internally structured artistic model.
